In this post, I want to share a crucial aspect of my 75 Hard Challenge journey – my diet. During 75 Hard, it is supposed to follow your own diet during 75 days with no cheat days. For me, it had to symbolize my commitment to my future self. This wasn’t just about food; it was about setting the stage for a dramatic career shift.

The Diet with a Deeper Meaning

As a former scientist and a leader in the food industry, specifically for a global snacking leader organization, my diet during the 75 Hard Challenge held a special significance. It represented my farewell to my 18-year corporate life and my transition to a life coach focused on supporting people’s transformations. So, what did that mean for my diet?

Breaking Up with Snacks

For 75 days, I said goodbye to snacks, sugar, bakery items, and candies – essentially, anything that symbolized my former work in the food industry. This diet wasn’t about counting calories or following trendy eating plans like keto; it was my disruptor, my way of signaling to myself that I was ready for the next chapter. It was all about getting my mindset right for the life I was building.

Choosing Foods That Represented Change

My diet included foods that were new to my routine and symbolized change. For breakfast, I switched from coffee and toast to oatmeal overnight with yogurt, peanut butter, cinnamon, sliced almonds, and honey – a delicious combination I’ve continued to enjoy post-challenge. I also introduced protein shakes into my diet, another habit I’ve decided to keep. And no cookies, crackers, protein bars, or other snacks between meals! Not even the healthy ones. Also, a challenge was looking for food without added sugar! Like Soy Milk has sugar!! And only a few granola brands don’t have sugar!! Wow!! It was a challenge.

The Scale: A Surprising Journey

At first, I found myself checking the scale every day – a habit I never had before – and even though it was exciting to see the numbers go down, I had to remind myself that losing weight wasn’t the goal. It was about my mental and emotional state. So, I stopped at day 10 of the challenge. By the end of the challenge, I had lost 4 kg, which was surprisingly low, but it reiterated that this journey was about more than just physical transformation.

The Real Victory: Mental and Emotional Strength

This journey was filled with reminders and triggers of my past career, but it reinforced my mantra: “I can do hard things.” And so can you. It’s not just about what you eat; it’s about what those choices represent in your life’s journey. For me, it was about breaking away from my corporate background and embracing my new path as a life coach.

Looking Forward

As I continued my transition to a 100% entrepreneurial life, I realized that the 75 Hard Challenge was the perfect disruptor. It wasn’t about losing weight or getting the right abs but about preparing myself mentally and emotionally for the future.
