Podcasts are a great resource for learning. I started to listen to podcasts about three years ago. When I first discovered podcasts, I kind of started to get addicted. I listen to podcasts when I’m driving, when I’m doing chores around the house, and when I go for a walk. I honestly listen to a podcast at least once a day.

I am always in this discovery mode. I’m always looking for new information, a new perspective, or a tip I can apply to my own life. But I need to be honest, I feel like there are so many, it can be quite overwhelming. There are so many excellent podcasts out there and I want to listen to them all, but there’s only so many hours in a day!

When I’ve reached a point where I’m looking for something new and I have the time to actually search, there are a few different ways I find my next addiction.

  • I get recommendations from friends.
  • I also search for the type of podcasts I like to listen to, which is mostly about personal development and the stories of people.
  • I look at podcasts recommended to me by the app. There’s always something similar to what I’m currently listening to that catches my eye.
  • I make a list of podcasts I want to start listening to, ones I like but will come back to next time, and the ones I can listen to anytime.

If you’re looking for some excellent personal development podcasts, here are my top 10 podcasts I recommend:

“The Tim Ferriss Show” – Tim Ferriss

This was the very first podcast I started listening to and I binged as many episodes as I could. My husband introduced it to me and I was hooked. It’s very well-rounded in terms of content. It included different people’s experiences, interviews with high-profile guests, like Tony Robbins, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jaime Foxx, to name a few. He discusses personal development, entrepreneurship, tools and tricks to improve our lives, and my personal favorite, deconstructing the performances of successful people. I love listening to how people grow and change to become the best versions of themselves. So inspiring.

“Why Not Now?” – AmyJo Martin

This one I stumbled upon. Before I became a blogger, this podcast introduced me to the world of entrepreneurship. It is interview-based. Some notable guests include Mark Cuban, Jessica Alba, and Simon Sinek. They discuss success, breakthroughs, and the journey people take to get what they want. What really hooked me in was this sense of feeling welcomed and truly encouraged to be your best self.

“Goal Digger: The Podcast” – Jenna Kutcher

I started following Jenna Kutcher on social media right when I first began my blog. I was looking for someone in the personal development arena. How to find my voice and improve engagement. She gives marketing tips, discusses how to build your business. A personal connection I had with her was that she came from the corporate world as well. She stopped working her corporate job to become a photographer, and now she runs a multi-million dollar company! Now she’s on social media teaching businesses how to best market themselves. I really love that there are a variety of topics, like how to make the most of your side hustle, how to grow your email list, and how to be successful on social media. Excellent choice for someone who is just starting out in their business. When you listen to her show, it feels like you’re talking with a friend.

“Maxout” – Ed Mylett

This is one that surprised me. His show has a lot of guests that are athletes, which is a perspective I’ve never really heard before. I love hearing about other people’s journeys, so I really enjoy this one. Each episode is interview-based. He interviews athletes, but also influential business figures, like Marc Randolph, the founder of Netflix or the WWE superstars.

“Super Soul” – Oprah

I am a huge Oprah fan. She is incredibly inspiring in so many ways. I remember thinking to myself, “How do I get access to Oprah’s materials?” Someone told me about her podcast and I was hooked. She discusses personal development, has amazing guests, like Bob Iger and Joy Harjo-Sapulpa, the first Native-American to be named the US Poet Laureate! It is just delightful. A must-have if personal development is what you’re after.

“Rise Together” – Dave Hollis

I was listening to Rachel Hollis, both are great, but I like Dave Hollis’ show because he’s guest-based, the types of topics he discusses, like corporate life, and how we see the world. I really relate to his content so I find it very helpful.

“School of Greatness Podcast” – Lewis Howes

Lewis Howes has great interviews! The guests are so interesting and inspiring. There are so many episodes so you can totally binge-listen. He’s relatable, funny, and engaged. This one introduced me to a lot of other influencers during my discovery phase Bonus! He has 5-Minute Friday episodes that are a quick pick-me-up before you start your weekend!

“The GaryVee Audio Experience” – Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary is inspiring and passionate. Despite the frequent audio issues, it’s still an incredible show! He is a true entrepreneur and he has so much knowledge to give and he is so eager to give it! There’s a mix of different kinds of media, marketing, social media, power of entrepreneurship, and a variety of other topics. A fair warning, there is a lot of cursing, but I attribute it to his passion!

“Unlocking Us with Brené Brown” and “Dare to Lead with Brené Brown”

Brené Brown is a wonderful speaker. She has a special on Netflix titled “The Call to Courage” and wonderful TED Talks. She has two different podcasts, but I think they are both worth to listen. I listen to both, but “Unlocking Us” is my favorite. She brings her personal stories, how we interact with the world, relates to others, and how we live our life. The simplicity of the concepts that she brings is amazing, like Vulnerability, Courage, Shame, Values.

“What’s Her Story” – Samantha Ettus and Amy Nelson

This is a new one, but it is great! It is focused on women, our position in society, women’s rights, and our different experiences. The hosts are very successful entrepreneurs and have a lot of wisdom to offer! The guests on another level, people we don’t have access to, like Melinda Gates. The guests share their own experiences, professional and personal, and it is so inspiring to hear from these powerful women, the obstacles they faced, and how they achieved their goals!

These are just the tip of the personal development iceberg! There are so many others on every topic you could possibly think of! Just search for what it is you want to learn, and there will be so many podcasts for you to choose from!

Do you have any podcasts you like to listen to that I didn’t mention? Please leave the name and a quick description below so I can add it to my list of “need to listen to” shows!
